DEVELOPING TODAY.
EMPOWERING FOREVER.

Building Champions in & out of athletics through sports, education, mentorship, and life skills.

Founded by combat veteran, coach, entrepreneur, and community builder Skyler Tenney, POPVL™ was created after years of witnessing talented individuals succeed athletically while lacking the mentorship, leadership development, life skills, confidence, and opportunities needed for long-term success.

"The Real Origins of POPVL" 2010 — A Turning Point

Around 2010, during one of the most difficult periods of his life, founder Prentice "Skyler" Tenney was introduced to a local youth track and field program. What began as a simple visit quickly became something far greater—a renewed sense of purpose, direction, and belonging. As he invested in young athletes and their families, he discovered a mission that would shape the next decade of his life and ultimately become the foundation for POPVL™.

POPVL™ is a youth, family, and community development platform that uses sports, recreation, mentorship, leadership development, and life-skills programming to create long-term opportunities both on and off the field.

THE REAL ORIGIN
OF POPVL™

POPVL™ did not begin as a business plan.

IT BEGAN ON A TRACK.
Circa 2010

Around 2010, during one of the most difficult periods of his life at that time, founder Prentice "Skyler" Tenney was introduced to a local youth track & field program. What started as a simple visit quickly became a source of purpose, direction, and community.

Over the next decade, Skyler served as a head coach, sprint coach, conditioning coach, mentor, trainer, and advocate for youth young adults and athletes and their families. During that time, athletes and teams he helped support advanced to Junior Olympic competitions across the country, including events in California, Iowa, New Orleans, Arizona, and many other locations.

As participation grew, so did the challenges. Many talented athletes qualified in many different sports and events for reasons outside of their control they could not afford to attend. Families struggled with travel costs, equipment expenses, and access to developmental resources.

At the same time, Skyler observed that many or most programs focused solely on athletic performance while overlooking the very things that often determine long-term success: leadership, education, life skills, mentorship, self-confidence, self-esteem, personal accountability, and character development.

The goal was never simply to develop better athletes. The goal was to develop better leaders, students, family members, teammates, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community contributors.

HIS PHILOSOPHY REMAINED CONSISTENT:

LEADERS FIRST. ATHLETES SECOND.
